This month we celebrate a local jewelry repair business, Carrera Jewelers.  It is definitely a San Antonio ‘jewel’ owned and operated by Angel and Blanca Carrera.  Mr. Carrera moved with his family to San Antonio about 17 years ago. He felt San Antonio was a city with a great future and has not regretted his decision. He loves it here and has felt blessed both personally and professionally.

Mr. Carrera is a master at repairing broken treasures people bring to him, and returning them to their owners “restored.” It was moving listening to him talk about the joy his special skills bring him. “To do this business you have to love it,” he said. And he does.

The most touching part was the deep satisfaction that comes from the connection with the people who come to him with “damaged or broken pieces.” He said they often have a story associated with their jewelry piece, and his real payment comes from seeing the joy on his customer’s face when they receive back their treasure made new again. 

He pointed out that while these may be material objects, they are often connected to feelings, family, and traditions. It resonated with Suzie since he has restored “broken treasures” of great personal family meaning to her.

Mr. Carrera sees every customer as a friend or family, and the feeling must be mutual. He said he no longer does any advertising, relying instead on trusty referrals and the all-important Google Reviews, which by the way garner him mostly 5-star ratings.
