InfuseSA in the Community: ‘Real Life Agent’ Edith Melendez
Have you heard of a “Real Life Agent” before? If not, it’s because the phrase was coined by our November Small Business Owner Edith Melendez. What is it?? You’ll be intrigued.
Edith Melendez is a very enterprising woman who is invested in combining many skills for many reasons. Most impressive is that what she is doing evolved from a combination of what her heart and head were telling her.
She began her career in bank foreclosure and was deeply affected by seeing how so many lives were devastated by this experience. She saw first-hand that many people had no background in regard to handling their finances, and therefore needed help in multiple areas in order to succeed. She realized that this was a result of various factors, but that she could help people avoid many of the financial management pitfalls that would leave them vulnerable.
Thus began Edith’s journey.
In her words, “when life hits you hard, you need someone to show you where to go and what to do. You need someone in your corner as a coach and friend.” Edith wanted to be a source of help for the financially helpless, those who have not had anyone to teach them how to make sound financial decisions, and then to maintain those decisions over time.
She wanted to focus on helping the Latino and immigrant communities, as well as those who lacked access to, or awareness of, financial education/knowledge. From the mortgage business she was recruited into real estate and became a licensed realtor in Texas. But she realized her clients needed more.
So she got her license in financial services. With this added ability and skill set, she sets up meetings with her real estate clients so that after their home is purchased, she can offer information about the next steps to financial security.
Edith’s role as a “Real Life Agent” was born!
She helps needy populations purchase a home, and then offers them solid information about how to maintain their investment and be creative about investing in their respective futures. As she said, “financial education resets possibilities for people who have not had a wise relationship with money.”
Edith is a jewel in our community! Please share with all those in need; she can help. To get on the path of financial security, contact her at 210-392-6800. She’s your true “Real Life Agent.”
